The Bolívar cuban cigars brand was founded by young entrepeneur, José F. Rocha, in 1902. At the time, Rocha had his own cigar factory and Bolívar cuban cigars were merely a strong, premium blend Rocha began experimenting with and perfecting. In 1921, nearly 20 years after creating the basic blend, Rocha was ready to register the Bolívar name and the cigars entered the public market.

Backed by the image of Simon Bolívar, the beloved military general who liberated South America from Spanish control in the early 1800s, the Bolívar Cuban quickly gained a reputation as the genuine article, a true Cuban delicacy... Strong, bold, honorable and sophisticated, the Bolívar marque is often comparable to the illustrious historical figure it is named after.

After Rocha's death in 1954, a Cuban tobacco mogul Cifuentes y Cía was quick to attain the highly esteemed Bolívar label. Under the direction of Cifuentes y Cia, Bolívar cigars were introduced to the international market. Bolívar's flavor and majesty were an instant hit among aficionados, and it was not long before Bolívar gained recognition in the worldwide market.

Today, Bolívar cigars are still hand-made with the same full-bodied robustness serious smokers have come expect from the name. Manufactured now by Habanos SA, each Bolívar Cuban cigar still bursts with the same sophisticated tinges of flavor that earned Bolívar a place as a first-class, genuine Cuban cigar. A Bolívar cigar is said to be the strongest of all of the Cuban cigars, and as such appeals mainly to experienced aficionados.
