Diplomaticos Cuban Cigars

There are many who believe that Cohíba cuban cigars was the first cigar brand created after the Revolution, but as Cohíba was at the time strictly produced for Castro and other high-ranking officials Diplomáticos were to be the first cigar exported out of Cuba following the Revolution. In 1966 in an effort to draw business from the elusive French market, the José Martí cigar factory sought to create a cuban cigars that rivaled the prestigious Montecristo in terms of both taste and consumer cost. Thus, Diplomáticos Cuban cigars were born. Diplomáticos mimic the Montecristo marque in many ways, most noticeably in the labeling of their vitolas. Like Montecristo, each Diplomáticos vitola is labeled consecutively with a number and initially each numbered Diplomáticos corresponded to the exact same vitola as that number from Montecristo line. The Diplomáticos Cuban cigar features its own unique taste. These cigars match the premier Montecristo marque with an unmistakable taste of the finest Cuban tobacco, and a rich, explosive combination of other remarkable flavors. Diplomáticos are a bit milder than the Montecristos, but their limited production volume and exquisite craftsmanship have made them as valuable to the cigar connoisseur as the pricey Montecristos they were modeled after. Diplomáticos did attempt at one point to add two new vitolas to their line in the mid-1970s, but they were quickly discontinued ten years later. Today, Diplomáticos maintains the production of its original five vitolas, each numbered consecutively and blended to match their Montecristo twin. Each Diplomático cigar is still hand made using the finest whole tobacco leaves.
