Romeo Y Julieta Belicosos (Box 25)

The Belicoso does not have the strongest flavor, yet has a well-rounded taste and a fine aroma. The primary flavor is cream – a very leathery cream – and is definitely one for the sweet tooth. Touches of honey-glazed toast, cedar, nuts and some woody notes can also be found.

This Romeo y Julieta is beautiful to look at, with an almost perfect appearance. The draw is a little tight and the cuban cigars has good burning characteristics. The Belicoso produces volumes of smoke and its mild nature makes it ideal for an early morning smoke. The wrapper is a dark brown and slightly coarse.

In appearence the RyJ Escudos are almost maduros…very dark wrapper. It is smooth and silky, very well constructed with an outstanding draw. They have spicy notes, envolved with cedar, earthy and green pepper hints. The Escudos delights your palate with a quite complex bouquet. This cuban cigars is considered to be a great Robusto – complex and with greatly balanced flavors of spiciness, fruits and a subtle hint of herbal notes. The Exhibición No. 4 is strong and aromatic, not to mention its sweet, fruity aftertaste. To start, an even sweet taste greets the palate and after that spice and cedar take over.

The Romeo y Julieta Cuban Cigars is named after the tragic young lovers of William Shakespeare. Its origins date back to 1875 and it has become one of the most famous cuban cigars brands in the world.

The brand was created by Inocencio Alvarez and Manin Garcia and has gone on to become one of the leaders in the international market. It has been awarded several golden medals in exhibitions such as Antwerp (1885), Paris (1889 and 1900) and Brussels (1897). The cigars brand changed hands in 1897 and the new owner, José Fernández Rodriguez, increased both production and quality. He introduced personalised vitolas for some of his most-valued clients. During his hey-day, no less than twenty thousand different bands were used in production.

Rodríguez was a cosmopolitan man and he constantly travelled across Europe and the Americas, actively promoting his brand. One of his publicity tricks was to name his own racing horse after the brand and to take it to important races in Europe. He also opened a shop in the Hotel Capulet in the Italian city of Verona, the place where Shakespeare?s play, Romeo and Juliet took place.

Sir Winston Churchill became a devoted fan of Romeo y Julieta. Since his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has been commemorated on a band and it also serves to describe the marque?s most famous size, the Churchill, measuring 7 inches by 47 ring guage.

Romeo y Julieta uses a balanced, aromatic blend of selected leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region. It is a classic, medium-bodied Habano and offers the widest range of totally handmade, long filler sizes in any Habano brand.
